For this work I took the text from a Craigslist Casual Encounters post and recreated it using the letters on the front of paint chip samples. If I need the word “play” I might splice together letters from the paint colors “Poplar Island” and “Thunder Bay”. This process allows the post writer’s words to help determine the final composition of the work, giving color to what was once black-and-white text.
